What Is a Memory Café?
A Memory Café is a relaxed social get‑together — no appointments, no clinical setting, and no pressure. Just people, stories, laughter, and maybe a slice of cake!
Originating in Europe in the late 1990s, Memory Cafés now exist worldwide, helping people stay connected and supported while living with dementia.
Why They’re So Special
Joy & familiarity: Music and conversation often spark meaningful memories.
Support for carers: A chance to share experiences with people who truly understand.
Stigma‑free spaces: Connection and fun are still very much part of life.
Who Can Attend?

Forget Me Not Memory Cafés
Run by community groups with support from Dementia Australia, this network includes dozens of cafés across Perth and regional WA — from Joondalup to Mandurah.
Some locations even feature live music or sing‑alongs to spark happy memories.
