Memory Cafés in Perth: Where Connection, Coffee & Kindness Meet

Have you heard about Memory Cafés popping up around Perth?

They’re cosy, welcoming meetups for people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or memory loss — and for the people who care about them. Think less “service” and more coffee, conversation, and connection.

What Is a Memory Café?

A Memory Café is a relaxed social get‑together — no appointments, no clinical setting, and no pressure. Just people, stories, laughter, and maybe a slice of cake!

Originating in Europe in the late 1990s, Memory Cafés now exist worldwide, helping people stay connected and supported while living with dementia.

Why They’re So Special

  • Joy & familiarity: Music and conversation often spark meaningful memories.

  • Support for carers: A chance to share experiences with people who truly understand.

  • Stigma‑free spaces: Connection and fun are still very much part of life.

Who Can Attend?

Anyone living with dementia or memory loss — along with family, friends, and loved ones.

  • No booking required

  • Stay as long (or short) as you like

  • Usually monthly or fortnightly

  • Free or low‑cost

Note: Paid carers generally don’t attend unless they’re part of a support role.
